While this marked a turning point for the brand to finally stop taking itself too seriously, it also allowed us to go against the grain of overly preachy wellness trends and unattainable self-care goals.

Pete’s an unconventional person, and we took an unconventional approach in our partnership with him to push product. From reimagining smartwater’s iconic ads with Jennifer Aniston to serving up simple yet smart advice in Pete’s own words, we had a lot of fun bringing smartwater down to earth like never before.

SMARTWATER “PRODUCT HYPE”

On another note, smartwater seems to update their packaging ever so slightly pretty much every six months. And we had money to burn, so we figured why not burn it in the best way possible with one of the best liquid directors around? We worked with Martin Wonnacott to shoot these simple yet seductive pieces of product porn, which the clients loved so much they ended up featuring them in retail promotions and across a variety of digital media that we weren’t originally scoped for.
